PROCESS
1. EXPRESSION OF INTEREST
Upon an expression of interest, each applicant shall first provide a clear copy of their original valid passport and a police clearance to the Agent. For a family case, each family member 18 years old and up, must submit a copy of passport and police clearance.
2. FIU CLEARANCE
All applicants require a FIU clearance from the Financial Intelligent Unit in Vanuatu. This will be up to 96 hours from when passport copy and supporting documents required are received and lodged. FIU fees are USD5,000 payable upon lodgement and is non-refundable.
3. CITIZENSHP APPLICANT SERVICE AGREEMENT
Upon the FIU Clearance, the applicant and Agent are now in a position to proceed. The Agent will inform the applicant that they have received FIU Clearance and both parties are required to sign the Citizenship Application Service Engagement Agreement.
4. PAYMENT
As per contractual requirements, upon signing the agreement, the applicant must fill in all forms, provide all necessary documents required, as per checklist provided by the Agent, sign the application forms available then hand them to the Agent for processing with 25% deposit payment of total cost of application (including all fees specified). Payment must be made within five (5) working days from date of signing.Total cost may vary depending on the number of applicants on the application. The 25% deposit is non-refundable.
5. LODGEMENT TO THE CITIZENSHIP COMMISSION
Once all is completed and received, the Agent will lodge the application to the Commission. The processing time will be 1-2 months from date of lodgment.
6. NOTICE OF APPROVAL
Upon the Citizenship Commission’s confirmation, a Notice Of Approval in principle will be issued upon a successful application to the applicant confirming that their status is hereby approved "in principle" pending completion of payment i.e balance of payment remaining of 75%. This Notice will also be sent to the Agent who will also inform the applicant respectively.
7. BALANCE OF PAYMENT / CANCELLATION
Upon receipt of the initial Notice of Approval, the applicant shall pay the remaining 75% balance of total cost agreed within five (5) days of the date of receipt of the approval in principle - as signed and agreed to in the Service Agreement. If the applicant defaults and no balance of payment is received within five (5) days, the Agent may suspend the application pending completion of payment. The Agent shall issue caution reminder notices to the applicant to facilitate completion of payment. If no balance of payment is received after ninety (90) days, the Vanuatu Government has the right to cancel the whole application with no refund.
8. ISSUE OF VANUATU PASSPORT
Upon receipt of full payment, the Citizenship Commission will issue the Citizenship Certificate and instruct the Passport office to issue a Vanuatu passport to the successful applicant. A soft copy of Citizenship Certificate and Passport would be emailed or sent to the Applicant or the New Vanuatu Citizen.
9. OATH OF ALLEGIANCE
The Oaths Ceremony is performed electronically by the Commissioner of Oaths via ZOOM.
10. REFUND APPLIES
If by any reason, the Vanuatu Government rejects an application, it will inform the agent and applicant and will provide a complete refund. The Vanuatu Government will refund the Agent who will refund the applicant once the refund is received. The Agent will only refund the applicant when it has received all refund from Government.
